How it Works

Here is how it works:

  • You make a reservation on William’s calendar. Information on how to make a reservation can be found on our making a reservation page.
  • You setup an account with Skype and FICS. Both programs are 100% free and information on how to get setup can be found in our getting setup page.
  • You make sure to be on Skype at least 5 minutes before the class starts. William will call you on Skype.
  • William makes a private chess chatroom on FICS that will only be available to you and him. You will see an invitation to join the chat-room pop-up on your screen.
  • One hour of instruction is given

How the Interface Works

Here is a real screenshot of one of our recent classes on the BabasChess interface. The student can type things on the textbox, move the pieces around and speak to the instructor using either the computer’s built in mic or a headset. William can “mark” the pieces with circles and arrows (kind of like a football play) to help you comprehend the position (just like in his videos)!
